Eligibility Requirements

The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is proud of the Lakefront Art Festival tradition, and invites artists to become a part of this premier quality cultural art event.

All displays will be visited by the Festival Committee at intervals throughout the weekend to ensure that exhibitors comply with the festival guidelines. It is our exclusive right and responsibility to remove work that is not in compliance.

  • Artist must be present for the entire two days - RAIN OR SHINE.

  • All work must be original art, conceived and executed solely by the artist within the last two years, without instructional assistance.

  • Each booth may exhibit work in only one category.

  • Collaborating artists may share booth space only if they mutually create pieces. Artists who work in a similar style or share studio space creating separate pieces do not qualify as collaborators and must apply separately.

  • All work must be for sale with prices clearly displayed.

  • All artists must comply with State of Indiana tax regulations.

  • Any breach of Fair rules forfeits all rights and will result in immediate removal from the show, with no

DEMONSTRATIONS: Artists are encouraged to demonstrate their artistic process during the festival. Those unable to demonstrate in their existing 10’x10’ booth set-up may be provided with additional space with electricity and limited water access.  Please indicate your interest in demonstrating on the application, and any special needs to do so.

ARTIST SERVICES: A Hospitality Tent will be available for festival participants. Complimentary refreshments and beverages will be made available Friday night, during set-up, and during the Festival Saturday and Sunday. Committee members and volunteers will wear badges and will circulate the exhibit area to offer relief breaks upon request.

JURY PROCESS: A panel of professionals selected by the committee will review electronic files or slides. A different jury reviews the artwork each year.

PROMOTIONS: Advertising will include press & radio coverage, ads, billboards throughout the area, as well as listings with the local visitor’s bureaus. Postcards and e-mail notifications will be distributed to the Lubeznik Center database. Postcards will be available to artists for further distribution. Directional signage is staged throughout Michigan City during the festival.

FEATURED ARTIST: One artist image will be selected for use on promotional materials (ie. postcards, advertisements, website, media releases & flyers). The artist will be offered first choice of booth space.

PRE-PURCHASE DOLLARS: “Art Bucks” are promoted and sold throughout the year and can be used for multiple purposes including purchases of art at the festival.

VISITOR SERVICES: As an alternative to parking fees, and to further enhance accessibility and attendance, a free shuttle bus will transport visitors to and from free off-site parking areas during festival hours.

ARTWORK DONATIONS: Please consider donating an item for use in Lubeznik Center fundraising events, such as A Night in Venice Masked Ball - a formal annual benefit, which includes cocktails, dinner, dancing and silent and live auctions.

A new feature called Early Collector will engage children at the Lakefront Art Festival. It is an opportunity for children to make artwork purchases on their own, without parental influence. In a tent staffed by festival volunteers, kids can choose from a selection of small affordable artworks that festival artists provide.

Proceeds generated from these sales will fund outreach activities for children.
