LUBEZNIK CENTER HOSTS LECTURE ON ARTS IN THE HAGUE

The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is pleased to announce that international artist Greta Cune will present a lecture, “How it is to be an Artist in The Hague,” on Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lubeznik Center, 101 W 2nd St., Michigan City. In her talk, Cune will take her audience from the Northwest Indiana to the other side of the ocean to the coast of the Netherlands and to The Hague.

The audience will be introduced to artists who have had a connection with The Hague such as VanGogh, Monet, Mesdag, Mondrian and some of their work will be shown. She will also note some of today’s young artists and the route they have taken to success.

The audience will get a feel for the local culture by taking a “walk” to different locations in the city. She will take a look at the cultural climate in The Hague, exhibits in the public domain, art education, and government sponsorship of the arts and museums in The Hague. Lecture is open to the public. A $3 donation is appreciated and LCA members may attend for free.

Cune is in the community for approximately one month as the first international visiting artist-in-residence at Purdue University North Central. A resident of The Hague, Netherlands, her work has appeared in exhibits throughout the Netherlands and in Berlin, Paris, Mexico and New York City.
